County Attorney

The Russell County Attorney is responsible for legal matters affecting the County, including providing counsel to the Board of Supervisors, boards and commissions, constitutional officers and staff. He represents the County in court and administrative proceedings.  

The County Attorney’s Office:
  • Updates and amends the County ordinances. 
  • Drafts and reviews contracts, bond documents, and deeds as well as General Assembly legislative proposals and legislation.
The County Attorney reports to and is appointed by the Board of Supervisors. Criminal matters are handled by the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office.
