The Scott County Schools Maintenance Department is seeking bids for the removal of gym bleachers from Gate City Middle School. Sealed bids will be accepted until Monday May 20, 2024 at 2pm. at the Scott County School Board Office, 340 East Jackson Street Gate City, Virginia 24251, at which time will be opened and publicly read. Sealed Bids shall be marked “GCMS bleacher removal” with attention John Ferguson, Superintendent.
An optional pre-bid conference will be held on Monday May 13, 2024 at 9:00am. at Gate City Middle School 170 Harry Fry Dr Gate City, VA 24351. The purpose of the pre-bid conference is to allow potential bidders the opportunity to present questions and obtain clarification relative to this solicitation.
Project Scope of Work
- Contractor shall make all efforts to maintain integrity of the existing finished gym floor.
- Any damage to the gym floor will be the responsibility of the contractor to pay and coordinate the repairs with gym flooring contractor.
- Contractor Shall remove all parts of existing bleachers and remove from the gym as designated below.
- Scott County Public Schools will remove all electrical power from the bleacher electrically operated parts.
- Contractor Shall remove and stack all bleacher boards in an area designated at the Scott County Career and Tech Center located 1/2 mile away at 387 Broadwater Ave, Gate City VA 24251 for Scott County Public Schools to maintain ownership of all bleacher boards.
- The bleachers are on two sides of the gym and side 1 is 85’ long with 11 rows covering 1,870sf and side 2 is 94’ long with 12 rows covering 2,256sf.
- Contractor shall remove all other electrical, mechanical, and structural framework of all bleachers and dispose of the material as needed.
- Contractor is responsible for all equipment required for the demolition work to remove all parts and material that is a part of the bleacher assembly from the gym and school property.

During the performance of this contract, the contractor agrees to follow the Code of Virginia on sex offender’s entry onto school property Pursuant to Section 22.1-296.1(E) of the Code of Virginia.
Scott County School Board reserves the right to reject any and all quotes/bids.
