1. Can we adopt an animal?

Yes. The Animal Adoption Form is available here as well as at the Board of Supervisors office.  

2. How do I adopt an animal?

First, you must be 18 years of age or older. 

Second, you must provide a picture ID with a current address.

The cost of adoption is $85 to be paid at the Russell County Treasurer's Office. Once the adopter presents proof of spay/neuter to the Treasurer's Office, $50 will be refunded. However, the spay/neuter MUST be done within 30 days of adoption in order to receive the refund. 

Also, rabies and licensing must be completed within 7 days of adoption. 

3. Does the Shelter accept cats?

No. We are not equipped to accept cats. 

4. What are the hours of operation for the animal shelter?

Hours of Operation:

Monday: 10 AM - 4 PM

Tuesday: 10 AM - 4 PM

Wednesday: 10 AM - 3 PM

Thursday: 10 AM - 4 PM

Friday: 10 AM - 4 PM

Saturday: 10 AM - 3 PM

Sunday: CLOSED

5. Where can I purchase a dog license?

You may purchase a dog license at the Treasurer's Office or by mail to the Treasurer's Office.
You must provide your current rabies vaccination in order to receive the license.
