A reconvened meeting of the Russell County Board of Supervisors was held on Tuesday, August 18, 2020

at 6:00 pm at the Russell County Conference Center in Lebanon, Virginia.

The Clerk called the meeting to order.

Motion made by Lou Wallace, second David Eaton and duly approved by the Board of Supervisors to approve the agenda as amended.

Motion made by Lou Wallace, second Carl Rhea and duly approved by the Board of Supervisors to approve a letter of support for the Go Virginia per capita proposal to transform Southwest Virginia into a battery and electrification supply chain manufacturing hub.

County Attorney Reports and Requests

Katie Patton, County Attorney discussed the PSA Consolidation with the Board. The PSA convened at the Board meeting to be able to discuss this.

SEPTEMBER 30, 2020 SET AS CLOSURE DATE FOR THE COUNTY FITNESS CENTER

Motion made by Steve Breeding, second Lou Wallace and duly approved by the Board of Supervisors to close the County fitness center on September 30, 2020.

APPROVAL OF A RUSSELL COUNTY CARES GRANT APPLICATION FORM

Motion made by David Eaton, second Steve Breeding and duly approved by the Board of Supervisors to approve a Russell County Cares Grant application available for qualifying small businesses located in Russell County to aid in recovery from the effects of the COVID 19 pandemic.

APPROVAL OF A LETTER OF SUPPORT FOR THE RUSSELL COUNTY IDA AND IGO

Motion made by Tim Lovelace, second Carl Rhea and duly approved by the Board of Supervisors to approve a Russell County Industrial Development Authority and IGO Letter of Support to provide projects to extend fiber optic internet service to the Crossroads/Purcell section of Hansonville & New Garden toward Finney area near Honaker.
