Public Participation Plan

This document is intended to guide the public participation procedure for the Cumberland Plateau Planning District Commission in relation to the Rural Regional Long Range Transportation Plan.

The Rural Regional Long Range Transportation Plan covers all aspects of transportation planning for roadways, bike and pedestrian, air, rail, and travel demand over the long term. The proposed projects in the plan is limited by the funds expected to be available over the next 20 years.

The purpose of this plan is to provide the opportunity for interested parties to be engaged in the transportation planning process. Local officials, the general public, low income, minority and disabled communities are encouraged to participate in the process.

INVOLVEMENT OPPORTUNITIES

The Cumberland Plateau PDC will:

• Hold a meeting to gather data and input at the beginning of the planning process or when updating the Rural Long Range Transportation Plan.

• Hold all meetings at convenient, accessible times and locations. • Use maps, charts, graphs and other tools to visually convey information presented. • Advertise meetings for public input and listening sessions at least 14 days prior, by posting

in newspaper and on website. • Provide comment cards and an email for public input. • Provide accommodations for the disabled if needed.

Communications and Information

• All meeting dates and documents will be available on the PDC website. • All draft and final plans will be available for viewing at the PDC office. • Flyers will be available at local libraries and posted on community bulletin boards as

necessary.

• The draft plan will be posted to the Cumberland Plateau PDC website and a 30 day comment period will be offered.
